I am reaching out for support in a fundraising goal that I have made.
I have committed to bike 100 miles on August 3rd in support of cancer research, not only for those who would have benefitted from advances in understanding, but also those who are currently waiting for somebody to make strides in understanding their cancer today so they can get the treatment they need. I will be riding with a large team of fellow medical students from OSU COM.
My motivation for doing this ride was seeing my sister, Chris’, strength as she fought cancer (and won!). Chris has been cancer-free for more than one year now! I want to show her and all survivors that we recognize their strength and value their vulnerability.
I know that medical research is valuable, but there is so much more involved in treatment of cancer that falls outside of the biology of it all. There is so much to understand about how to best approach patients who are dealing with so much more than just out of control cell growth. What impact does it have on someone psychologically? How can one cope with the sense of possibly approaching death? How will this impact their family? What sacrifices must a patient make in order to focus on recovery? Will their job understand if they need 3 months off? 6 months?
I know that raising $2000 is not going to solve these issues or answer all of these questions, but I think it can show that people care about what outcomes for these patients can be. It shows that thousands of people want to make an impact wherever they can.
In just ten years the Pelotonia community raised over $184 million for cancer research. But we aren’t stopping there. Every single dollar we raise is invested in innovative cancer research, the brightest minds and ideas, and the tools and technology needed to reach our one goal. Please join me in supporting this cause and let’s save lives. Remember – 100% of every single dollar raised is directed to life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Your support matters to me and all of those who will benefit from it in the future.
Please consider supporting me today by making a donation to support my ride. Remember – 100% of every single dollar raised is directed to life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Pelotonia has broken records in the last ten years and we are setting out to do more than we ever have before.

Anything you can give, from $0.10 to $100.00 or more, would show your support.
Feel free to forward this to anyone that you think may be interested in helping me reach this goal.
Thank you so much,
