A note from our Membership Chair

Hello Buckeyes!

The OSU Alumni Club of Detroit has remained active in 2021! Some of this year’s virtual events included a movie review of the recently released “TBDBITL 141” documentary in January as well as “A Day in the Life of Brutus” in February in addition to the on-going book club.  Our annual meeting featured Paul Keels (the voice of the Buckeyes).   The club’s first in-person event for 2021 took place in June and was an outdoor meal at Bert’s Marketplace located in the Eastern Market area (a planned visit to the DIA had to be cancelled due to a power outage).  A backpack assembly project benefiting the Detroit Children’s Center was held in August.  The annual club gathering tailgate occurred in Columbus this fall and an away tailgate is being planned for Ann Arbor in a scaled back capacity.

The scholarship review committee met virtually and reviewed a number of outstanding scholarship applications completed by Detroit Area high school students that were considering attending Ohio State.  Four scholarships were awarded this year to first year students choosing to pursue degrees in Biochemistry, Business Administration, Chemistry and Social Work.

The year 2022 is rapidly approaching and also presents the opportunity to join the club or renew your current membership.  It’s quick and easy.  Please visit the website here join/renew.

The membership options are explained there and all donations are applied to the Detroit Alumni Scholars Fund.  In the event you would prefer to mail in a check ($25 for the club only or $75 for the yearly sustaining membership to the OSUAA in addition to the club) the address to use is:

The Ohio State University Foundation

PO Box 710811

Columbus, OH  43271-0811

One of the regular OSU Development Office campaign mailings can be used or a check can simply be mailed to the above address.  Be sure to reference the club scholars fund below:

Detroit Alumni Scholars Fund | Fund Number: 641727

Please keep in mind that a donation in November or December 2021 provides membership benefits in the Detroit Club through calendar year 2022.  One of those benefits includes the opportunity to purchase selected football tickets through the club subject to availability.  Regular Alumni Association requirements also apply.

Thank you for your consideration and Go Bucks!

Sincerely,

Roger Facer
