Hello Buckeyes!

The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Detroit has been active in 2022! Our annual meeting for 2022 took place in June and was an outdoor meal at Bert’s Marketplace located in the Eastern Market. The Wolverine Roast occurred in early August at the Beverly Hills Village Park. A delicious meal of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs was served along with a full spread of potluck items (I’m ready for an additional helping of the homemade banana pudding!) A boating party was held at the end of August at the Pontiac Yacht Club. The annual club gathering tailgate occurred in Columbus this fall and was combined with the Cletus Fest organization. TV game watch parties are available each Saturday the Buckeyes play football — at the Downtown Detroit Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3). A combined watch was held with the Penn State club and a food drive for the hungry was included. Over 400 pounds of food was collected!

The scholarship review committee met virtually and reviewed a number of outstanding scholarship applications completed by Detroit Area high school students that were considering attending Ohio State. Four scholarships were awarded this year to first year students choosing to pursue degrees in Biology, Psychology and Animal Science. Please keep in mind that a donation in November or December 2022 provides membership benefits in the Detroit Club through calendar year 2023. One of those benefits includes the opportunity to purchase selected football tickets through the club subject to availability. Regular alumni association requirements also apply.
